The Door is a short film, based on the Chernobyl disaster, which has just been nominated for an Oscar in the best live action short category. Directed by Irish director Juanita Wilson, the film was made by Bray-based Octogon Films, filmed in Ukraine and is in Russian with English subtitles. The film is based on the true story of a father and his young daughter set in Russia 1986.
The Door has already won a number of awards including the IFTA award for Best Short Film and a Best Director prize at the Grand OFF, World OFF Awards in Warsaw. The film was produced by Octagon Films under the Short Cuts scheme funded by the IFB and RTÉ.
